    Spring cleaning

    Mushrooms everywhere, mold wonderfully active in the warmer moist air.  

    Some of last seasons tomato products are "growing".  Now transferred to our small compost, the probiotics can perform their best, under a blanket of cabbage leaves.

    Winter sunrise

    A last night on the land during the semester break.  Time in our neighbouring village, with women and chldren - some who'd painted eggs with me 12 years ago.

    Slip sliding n freezing

    Patches of snow on the northern sections of slopes highlight the landscape.  The car skids on village roads flooded with melt water.  Monday morning a sprinkling of fine snow granules

    How snow transforms - on all scales.  Cold, damp, white... obviously.  Stop and watch how light has changed, water finds a way, soil shapes as it soaks up melting snow.  Traces of recent past, anticipating possible futures

    If 25 years ago

    Had I been told when I first moved to Turkey (2.12.1993) that I'd celebrate 25 years mucking out chickens, preparing worm food and playing multiplication cubes with a shepherd's daughter, I'd have been "dead chuffed" (extremely happy)!

    Harvest Moon

    9 us celebrated the full moon closest to the autumn equinox with Cantonese Moon Cakes - Thanks, Yvonne!  Most left well before sunrise for class registration.  3 of us froze in the sudden temperature drop.
